Risk Assessment of Priority Substances
Environment Canada, 1997-2000

In the years of 1989 and 1995, Environment Canada and Health Canada established two lists of priority substances for assessment of their associated risk to human health and the environment. Crechem was given a number of tasks to assist Environment Canada in risk assessment of four priority substances included in the second list (PSL2), acrylonitrile, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, and textile mill effluents. Crechem developed a process-based engineering approach to release estimation. The approach was validated with industry data and provided an independent source of release data for cases where direct measurements were not possible.
